The most important role played by cyberspace and the Internet, is to establish news agencies and information firms around the world. Concerning the intense competition of news agencies and communication firms around the world as well as in Iran, for collection, processing, customizable news and information to their audiences, it is necessary to analyze and evaluate the structure and content of the news, based on standard criteria, both in government and non-governmental agencies in our country. The main aim of this research is to study the comparison the oil industry news coverage of the two government and semi- government news agencies, namely IRNA and Fars. The secondary aims of this research is to identifying, news coverage and events representation as well as knowing the content and news values and elements in both above-mentioned news agencies. In addition, content analysis of the news headlines and personality news coverage are among the secondary aims of this research.Thus, the research was carried out in comparative approach in order to identify and assess the status of each of these agencies realistically. The methodology of the research is content analysis. Reverse questionnaires used for data collection in accordance with the news categories and sub- categories in this research. The population of this study consisted of all oil industry news in the first six months of 2016 in the above- mentioned news agencies. The results showed that there is no significance relationships in news coverage of the both news agencies.
